Vacation Destination: School.

It has begun.
The school year is upon us.

My daughter woke up at 7am on Tuesday, hurriedly got ready for her day and declared it time to go at 7:30.
My son did much the same, with a much cooler, not bounding down the steps in that childish manner, and said, "Let's go" at 7:30. I stood there looking at them in my pj's attempting to drink some coffee so I could begin to understand what was even happening yet questioning that I really didn't think it was even morning yet.
"We have another hour before we are going"
"WHAT?!" Was the shriek in unison.
Maicy: "Why did I get up so stinkin' early then?!"
Me: "I'm asking myself that very same question right now"

After stalling them off, I reminded them that we have to go to the church by the school for their first day and you would have thought that I declared war on all things pink, purple, sparkly, and polka dotted. The girl had  a slight meltdown.

"Why can't we just go to school already?!"

Please, someone remind her of this come January when its dark yet at 8:00am and I cannot pry this child out of her bed and out of her feetie jammies. Please.

They did survive the hour long service and bounced out of the pew as soon as their classes were called and God bless them, they didn't even have the decency to look back and pretend they were going to miss me. Of course I may have arrived home after a peaceful trip to the grocery store and when I saw the neighbor I may have or may not have danced in the drive-way shouting "I'm Free!!" I wouldn't do that.
Jackson then proceeded to tell me at dinner that he's glad I'm not his room mom this year because after all school is his vacation from me and that would ruin everything. I love you too, dear. Thankfully Maicy is still glad I'm her room mom.

(This is where I would insert the token first day of school picture... had I not misplaced the cord somewhere between here and San Antonio.) (Although now that I think about it, I have a feeling its just in Nebraska, since that's where I was when I put my trip pics on my computer. Glad you could all follow along with me talking to myself)

Okay, that's all for now. I'm off to complete my giant to-do list that I made for myself for when they're back at school.

Ha, why is it that children get SO excited for school to start, then by mid-year...they will not crawl outta bed to save their lives??! Hilarious! When I was teaching, I guess I went through the same thing-the beginnings are So fun, the middle can get repetitive so you gotta spice it up to keep the kiddos HAPPY :) Good luck with that LONG to-do list!!

The fun never stops!

The package has been delivered. I would advise you to open it when the entire clan is around so you are not tempted to indulge the whole thing yourself.... just a friendly warning. :O)

I just love your kids conversations with you. Hilarious! But deep down inside those little ones miss you when they go to class.

It's tough though. They do grow up so fast. So sad *sigh*

Take care and have a great weekend.
